On 13 May 2025, Nike transformed Madrid’s iconic Hipódromo de la Zarzuela into the stage for The Ultimate Ride 2.0, a high-energy, last-runner-standing race that challenged both elite athletes and everyday runners to push beyond their limits.
Set against the striking backdrop of the horse racing circuit, Nike brought together 100 runners for a unique test of speed, endurance, and community. Each participant laced up the new Nike Vomero 18, experiencing first-hand the shoe’s groundbreaking dual-layer cushioning designed to deliver a smooth, responsive, and stable ride.
The format was simple yet unforgiving: 12 laps of a 1,700-metre course, starting at a steady pace of 7 minutes per kilometre and accelerating by 30 seconds each lap. The challenge escalated until the final lap reached an extraordinary 2:52 minutes per kilometre, the pace of Eliud Kipchoge’s historic Breaking2 attempt in Monza. With every turn, runners discovered that the Vomero 18 was built not only for long-distance comfort, but also for sustaining the explosive speed demanded by the competition.
As the pace intensified, the race distilled into pure performance. The 3:00/km lap shattered the field, leaving only the fastest standing. Beyond the track, Nike curated a vibrant atmosphere that celebrated sport and culture. Live music, interactive activities, and dedicated recovery zones turned the Hipódromo into more than just a venue: it became a hub of energy, inspiration, and community spirit.
